Over the last fifteen years the Diploma course has
been run in several venues in the North and South of England and
in Jersey.
The Diploma can be run anywhere provided there is suitable accommodation and 10-12 students with
secured funding for the course. If you could offer a venue please contact
Ian Woodroffe.
The diploma course builds on basic counselling skills to
increase confidence and competence in counselling bereaved people and gives
participants a thorough understanding of the grief process.
The course has been designed as
an Advanced professional Development course using a unique combination of
theory and experiential learning. Extensive video work provided an unequalled
learning base.
Within the trusting and
non-judgemental atmosphere of the course participants are empowered to
learn about the subject, to renew presentation
skills, increase personal confidence and to be challenged on interpersonal
skills.
A large part of the course involves experiential learning
using video training. Initially students will counsel each other in a
dedicated room, with a video link through to other students.
In the second part of the course you may have the unique
opportunity to work with bereaved clients as part of your assessment.
The course has two Units. Unit One
covers counselling skills and bereavement counselling and participants are
assessed on their skills. Nobody can move to Unit Two unless they have past Unit One assessment.
For full details of Unit One
access the material in pdf form here.
Unit Two covers bereavement theory
and an extensive amount of video work and reflection. For full details of
